How to: Install Windows 3.1 drivers for use in Windows 95.
Solution:
Install Windows 3.1 16-bit drivers only when necessary and when a 32-bit driver is not a choice.
1) To install a Windows 3.1 printer driver for use with Windows 95:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings'.
c) Select the 'Settings' menu and select 'Printers'.
d) Double-click the 'Add Printer' icon.

e) Click either 'Local Printer' or 'Network Printer' and click 'Next'.
NOTE: If you select 'Network printer', you must type the path in the 'Network path or queue name' text box and click 'Next'.
f) Click 'Have Disk'.
g) In the 'Copy Manufacturer's Files From' dialog box, type the drive and path for the OEMSETUP.INF file for the driver to be installed, then click 'Next'.
h) Select the driver to be installed, then click 'OK'.
2) To install Windows 3.1 video drivers for use in Windows 95:
a) Right-click an empty area of the desktop, and select 'Properties' from the pop-up menu that appears.
b) Click the 'Settings' tab and click 'Change Display Type...'. (The 'Change Display Type' dialog box appears.)
c) In the 'Adapter Type' area, click 'Change...'. (The 'Select Device' dialog box appears.)
d) Click 'Have Disk...'. (The 'Install From Disk' dialog box appears.)
e) In the 'Copy manufacturer's file from' dialog box, type the drive and path for the OEMSETUP.INF file for the driver to be installed, then click 'Next'.
f) Click the video mode and click 'OK'.
3) To install Windows 3.1 drivers for unlisted hardware for use in Windows 95:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings'.
c) Select 'Control Panel'.

d) Double-click the 'Add New Hardware' icon, and click 'Next'.
e) When prompted 'Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware?', click 'No' and click 'Next'.
f) From the 'Hardware types' list box, select the type of hardware to be installed and click 'Next'.
g) Click 'Have Disk...'.
h) In the 'Copy manufacturer's file from' dialog box, type the drive and path for the OEMSETUP.INF file for the driver to be installed, then click 'OK'.
i) Click the driver to be installed and click 'OK'.
NOTE: The steps outlined above work only for installing Windows 3.1 drivers from disks that contain an OEMSETUP.INF file. If the disk does not contain this file, contact the manufacturer for assistance in installing the driver.
